On November 9–10, 1938, the Nazis in Germany committed Kristallnacht. They systematically attacked Jews and destroyed and plundered their property. Later, the confiscation and destruction of Jewish property and assets in various forms also took place in other European countries occupied by the Nazis. The artwork „The Stopped Clock” symbolizes that the Jewish store will never reopen because its property has been plundered. The absence of hands on the clock face is like a sign that the store owners died or fled Europe.

Technique: Horizontal photo canvas 90×60 cm. The photograph was taken on Žemaitijos (formerly M. Strašūnas) street, Vilnius, Lithuania, with a Kodak Hawk Eye camera (made around 1930). The film and development are modern. The clock sticker is laminated.
