The Jewish people, although small in number, experienced many difficulties, but they did not break. Perhaps this happened because they drew strength from faith in God, respect for their ancestors (for Jews, their genealogy is especially important), and the traditions and culture of their people. The large stone in the foundation of the bromine is a symbol of that strength.
In Lithuania, as in other European countries occupied by the Nazis, during World War II, Jews were ordered to wear the Star of David on their backs and chests. It will be forbidden to walk on sidewalks or use transport. Jews will not have the right to set foot in squares and parks.
Information signs on the sidewalk „Do not walk, do not stand” seem to remind us of this absurd prohibition. At the same time, the size of the stone in the foundation of the gateway seems to symbolize that these are temporary challenges to the strength and longevity of the nation.
